Auto-CLI: giving coding agents a real CLI for apps that don't have an API
说明与用途
Auto‑CLI 为缺少 API 的应用生成可验证的 CLI 接口,使代理能够执行命令并验证结果。
问题
Coding agents can call CLIs and APIs but many everyday apps, especially Windows desktop apps, lack both, forcing agents to rediscover the app each session and guess commands.
结果
Auto‑CLI successfully generated CLI harnesses for a SQLite library app, Windows Notepad, and WordPad, enabling command execution, validation, and GUI automation with verified results.
工作流
- 1. REA probes the target app to reverse‑engineer its automation surface.
- 2. Findings are classified into a harness plan and scaffolded into a CLI‑Anything layout.
- 3. The validator verifies findings against the live app, driving IPC channels and generating commands.
- 4. The auto command chains recon → scaffold → verify → optional IPC drive → complete → optional GUI capture → validate.
- 5. Generated commands are installed and used to interact with the app (e.g., SQLite library, Notepad, WordPad).
证据
Coding agents are good at calling CLIs and APIs. A lot of the software people use every day has neither, especially Windows desktop apps.
Auto-CLI does that discovery once and turns it into a CLI harness the agent can rely on, with evidence of what was actually verified.
The README quickstart creates a two-row books table, then runs: ... You should see result: OK, a search hit for Dune, and a CSV with both books.
Auto-CLI generates a harness from recon and the live UI. The generated commands then write a release checklist into Notepad, read it back with ui-read-text, and export the text to release-notes.txt.
For native English WordPad, the generated CLI now has open, read, replace, append, bold, save-as and workflow commands.
