How I built a local vault for Codex conversations
Description and use
Mind Palace stores Codex conversations locally, preserves immutable source revisions, and enables keyword search that returns exact passages with source references, all without external APIs.
Problem
Need to keep coding conversations locally and retrieve the original passage when a question reappears.
Outcome
The app captures Codex transcripts locally, preserves source revisions immutably, and allows keyword search that returns exact passages with source references, all without API keys or cloud sharing.
Workflow
- Choose a local vault and allow a Codex transcript folder
- Install app hooks and review their definitions in Codex
- Approved hooks write captures to a local inbox
- Open the vault or sync to import sessions
- Search with words from the conversation and inspect the quoted source
Evidence
Mind Palace preserves selected source revisions as immutable, content-addressed files.
Ask performs bounded keyword matching over verified stored conversations. It returns an exact passage with a source reference, or reports that it found no matching evidence.
The current capture, storage and search path needs no API key or model call. The application enables no developer analytics or hidden cloud sharing.
