I built an open-source, offline-first timetable and assignment manager for students (UniTask)
Description and use
UniTask is an open-source, offline-first app that manages university timetables, assignments, to-dos, and study groups with alerts and backups.
Problem
Students need a personal manager for university tasks, timetables, and study groups that works offline and provides reminders.
Outcome
UniTask provides an integrated, offline-first solution for managing university schedules, assignments, and study groups, with open-source code available for community use.
Workflow
- 1. Define data models for classes, assignments, to-dos, and study groups.
- 2. Implement offline-first storage using JSON backups.
- 3. Add lecture start alerts and assignment deadline persistent alarms.
- 4. Create a simple code system for sharing tasks with classmates.
- 5. Open-source the project on GitHub for community feedback.
Evidence
I felt the need for a personal university task(assignments, quizes, etc) manager app so I used Google AI Studio and Claude to vibe code one.
It handles daily class timetables (with lecture start alerts), assignment deadlines with persistent alarms, personal recurring to-dos, and offline JSON backups.
You can also join study groups using a simple code to share tasks with classmates.
