I gave my coding agents a physical dashboard — a week with AgentStreamDeck
Description and use
A physical Stream Deck dashboard lets you instantly see the status of AI coding agents and focus on their windows, eliminating window‑switching hassle.
Problem
Managing multiple AI coding agents simultaneously became a token‑cost issue and a focus‑management headache, as alt‑tabbing and window switching were inefficient.
Outcome
Using AgentStreamDeck with a Stream Deck Mini/MK.2 provides a clear, real‑time visual status of each AI coding agent and allows instant focus, eliminating the need for alt‑tabbing and reducing context switching overhead.
Workflow
- Install AgentStreamDeck via pip:
pip install agentstreamdeck - Install the OpenCode plugin globally:
ocdeck install - For each project, install the harness for the desired agent:
ocdeck harness-install <agent> - Connect the Stream Deck Mini/MK.2 to the computer
- Configure keys for each agent session via the AgentStreamDeck UI or config
- Use the physical keys to monitor status and focus sessions
Evidence
The ring is the feature. I stopped checking windows. The status colors are honest per-harness
Tabs lie to window focus. Two sessions in one Windows Terminal window made focus ambiguous. One session per window and it stopped misfiring
6 keys is tight. On the Mini, the Jelly companion mascot mostly had no room once three sessions were live. The 15-key MK.2 is the sweet spot
