Install AMUD on Proxmox in One Command (No Docker Required)
Description and use
Install AMUD on Proxmox with a single command for a lightweight Rust dashboard without Docker.
Problem
Managing 20+ services on Proxmox lacks a unified, lightweight dashboard; most solutions rely on Docker and heavy runtimes.
Outcome
AMUD provides a lightweight, native Rust dashboard on Proxmox with minimal resource usage, eliminating Docker and enabling real‑time monitoring and control of VMs/LXC containers.
Workflow
- SSH into Proxmox host as root
- Run
curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/boubli/AMUD-Dashboard/main/setup-amud.sh | bash - The script installs amud-agent as a systemd service on the host
- Creates an LXC named
amud-dashboard(1 CPU, 256 MB RAM, 4 GB disk) - Bind‑mounts
/opt/amud/runso agent and server share IPC socket - Deploys amud-server and outputs the container IP
- Open the dashboard at
http://<LXC-IP>:8000/ - Login with username
adminand passwordpassword - Change password in Settings → Admin Profile
- Set up Proxmox API token via CLI commands to enable live LXC status and control
Evidence
AMUD splits into two tiny daemons: amud-agent runs on the Proxmox host and amud-server runs in a Debian 12 LXC
The script will: Install amud-agent as a systemd service on the host; Create an LXC named amud-dashboard; Bind‑mount /opt/amud/run; Deploy amud-server
