Move a Coolify project to another server in two terminals
Description and use
Coolify Mirror enables a quick two-terminal migration of a Coolify project to a new VPS, preserving all configuration, environment variables, volumes, database data, images, and proxy settings with minimal manual effort.
Problem
Moving a Coolify app to a new VPS requires rebuilding the project, moving database data and volumes, copying environment variables, and manually sorting out domains.
Outcome
Coolify Mirror enables a fast, two-terminal migration of a Coolify project, preserving configuration, secrets, volumes, database data, images, and proxy settings with minimal manual intervention.
Workflow
- On the old server, install Coolify Mirror and select a project or whole server to back up; the tool creates an encrypted backup and prints a restore command with a share code.
- On the new server, paste the restore command; the tool downloads and verifies the backup, performs preflight checks, shows a restore preview, and waits for confirmation.
- After confirming, the tool restores the resources, verifies they are running, and the user checks the running resources and updates DNS to point to the new server.
Evidence
Both servers need self-hosted Coolify v4.3 or v4.4 on the exact same version, with root or sudo access.
The backup can include project configuration, environment variables and secrets, volumes and host files, database data, images, and proxy settings.
A whole-server restore needs an empty target Coolify. A selective project restore can merge into a Coolify already in use, subject to conflict checks.
