Proxmox Datacenter Manager: One Pane Over Every Cluster
Description and use
PDM consolidates multiple Proxmox clusters into a single read‑only dashboard using scoped API tokens.
Problem
Managing multiple Proxmox clusters requires juggling several browser tabs, making it hard to get a unified view of resources and health.
Outcome
PDM provides a unified, read‑only view of multiple Proxmox clusters, reducing browser tab clutter and improving monitoring efficiency.
Workflow
- Deploy PDM in a Debian 13 LXC container using the no‑subscription repository and install the proxmox-datacenter-manager-container-meta package.
- Configure the container’s web UI on port 8443 and log in as root@pam.
- For each Proxmox cluster, create a dedicated read‑only user (PVEAuditor for VE, Audit for PBS) and generate an API token.
- In PDM, add each cluster as a remote by entering the node address, allowing certificate fingerprint pinning, and pasting the token.
- Verify that each remote appears in the PDM remotes table and that the dashboard aggregates resources across all clusters.
Evidence
PDM ships as Debian packages, so a plain Debian 13 LXC does the job (2 vCPU / 2 GB RAM is plenty).
On each cluster, create a dedicated user and a read-only token rather than handing PDM an admin login.
With both remotes connected, the dashboard finally aggregates every node, guest, and datastore across separate clusters.
