Reviving Open Source Giants: How I Brought Weave Scope Back with Multi-Platform Docker Support in One Afternoon Using Antigravity
Description and use
Weave Scope was revived and modernized to support multi‑platform Docker images (amd64/arm64) in one afternoon using Antigravity.
Problem
Weave Scope was archived, unmaintained, and only built for x86_64, making it unusable on modern ARM servers.
Outcome
Weave Scope is now actively maintained, with a modern CI pipeline and multi‑architecture Docker images available on Docker Hub, enabling deployment on both x86_64 and ARM64 platforms.
Workflow
- 1. Cloned the archived repo and created a fork. 2. Used Antigravity to analyze the repo, identify dependency blockers, and suggest fixes. 3. Updated Go and C dependencies to compatible versions. 4. Refactored legacy Makefiles into a Dockerfile using multi‑stage builds. 5. Configured docker buildx to build linux/amd64 and linux/arm64 images. 6. Generated a manifest list and pushed the multi‑arch images to Docker Hub. 7. Tested the image on an Apple Silicon machine and a Raspberry Pi cluster.
Evidence
The entire journey took a single afternoon and a few tokens thanks to Antigravity.
Docker Hub Multi-Arch Images: Ready to deploy on both x86 and ARM infrastructure.
