We wanted a Vercel + Supabase alternative without becoming full-time DevOps
Description and use
Lathe consolidates app, database, and auth on a single dedicated machine, offering a fixed monthly price and simplifying operations for solo builders.
Problem
Small teams using Vercel and Supabase faced growing complexity, multiple dashboards, unpredictable bills, and difficulty debugging when the stack expanded.
Outcome
Lathe simplifies operations for solo builders by consolidating services onto one machine, providing a predictable fixed bill, and exposing an API for automation, while reducing cognitive load and debugging complexity.
Workflow
- 1. Deploy the app, Postgres, and auth on Lathe.
- 2. Add optional services (Redis, CouchDB, NATS) via the web portal, REST API, or MCP server.
- 3. Use the MCP server to automate provisioning and operations for agents or scripts.
- 4. Monitor, backup, and update the stack through the integrated tools.
- 5. Export the database with pg_dump for migration or backup verification.
Evidence
We wanted a Vercel + Supabase alternative built around a simpler unit: one machine, one stack and one bill.
Lathe puts your app, database and auth on one dedicated machine.
