Why I Created the AI Agent Execution Receipt
Description and use
AI agents now generate immutable public receipts for every tool call, providing transparency and trust for clients and auditors.
Problem
AI agents that perform paid tool calls lack transparent, tamper‑evident proof of what actions were taken, making it hard for clients, auditors, and owners to verify execution.
Outcome
Agents now provide immutable, public proof of every tool call, enabling transparent verification for clients, auditors, and owners, and establishing a new standard for AI agent execution receipts.
Workflow
- 1. Agent initiates a tool call through Zambo.
- 2. Zambo records the canonical request bytes and computes a SHA‑256 hash.
- 3. Zambo generates a UUID and timestamps the call.
- 4. Zambo captures the tool name, arguments, and observed result.
- 5. Zambo anchors the receipt on Nostr and publishes it to a public /run/ URL.
- 6. Stakeholders can retrieve the receipt URL to verify execution details.
- 7. Receipts are stored indefinitely for audit and trust purposes.
Evidence
Every AI agent tool call returns an AI agent execution receipt.
The receipt ID (UUID). The SHA-256 hash of the canonical request bytes. A timestamp. The tool called and its arguments. The observed result. Upstream evidence and a Nostr anchor.
You hand an agent a job that runs hundreds of paid tool calls overnight. You wake up. Instead of a confident paragraph explaining what it definitely did, you get hundreds of receipt links.
