YouTube Opened Without Asking for the Login Password
Description and use
Automating YouTube opening without a password prompt: Chromium is launched with --password-store=basic and opens links in the already logged‑in session, eliminating the password prompt and robot check.
Problem
Chromium launched by the assistant could not access the login keyring, causing a password prompt and a robot check when opening YouTube.
Outcome
After applying the changes, the assistant could open YouTube videos in 3917 ms without triggering a password prompt or robot check.
Workflow
- 1. Configure the assistant to open links with the desktop’s default opener instead of launching a new Chromium instance.
- 2. Pass the flag
--password-store=basicto Chromium to avoid keyring usage. - 3. Ensure the opened tab inherits the existing logged‑in session and cookies.
- 4. Verify that YouTube loads directly to the video page without a password prompt or robot check.
Evidence
Chromium could not see the login keyring, so the desktop asked for the account password.
The fix is small. Links now open with the desktop’s own opener, in the session that is already logged in, so the tab belongs to the Chromium window already on screen.
Chromium is also told to keep its saved data without the keyring (--password-store=basic).
